Meet the CEO, Malda Brown

Ms. Malda Brown is a former Senior Procurement Center Representative (PCR) for the United State Small Business Administration (SBA).  She was assigned to assist Federal agencies in structuring acquisitions to be suitable for small business utilization.  Ms. Brown has extensive experience working with senior leadership at the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Commerce, Department of Justice, Social Security Administration, Walter Reed Army Command and the Army Corp of Engineers.

Ms. Brown began her career as a contracting officer with SBA and was eventually promoted to Chief of Contracts Division.  She served in this position for five years before being promoted to a PCR.  She used her procurement knowledge and negotiation skills , acquired as a contracting officer where she successfully advocated for the continued increase in opportunities for small and minority firms in the Federal contract arena.

Ms. Brown often teamed with Federal agencies and advocacy organizations to host small business outreach and training events.  In this role, she was a frequent speaker at numerous events and considered a subject matter expert in SBA’s regulations, as well as the Federal Acquisition Regulations. While employed at SBA, Ms. Brown furthered her education at Strayer University and continue to expand her knowledge through various training opportunities.

In addition, Ms. Brown founded a non-profit organization, Empowering Minds for the Future, Inc., in 1992. Her non-profit organization targets disadvantaged young adults in low-income, urban and rural neighborhoods who are interested in starting a business.  She uses her knowledge and experience gained from helping small businesses as a PCR to help young adults become successful entrepreneurs.  The motto of the organization is “Save a Mind, Save our Future.”
